5G, AI and construction in China
[edit] Introduction
Contractors located in Beijing are employing 5G and paving the way for the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
[edit] New tech
A total of 40 contractors located in Beijing have begun utilising 5G base stations for construction. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology expects there will be more than 600,000 5G base stations nationwide by the end of 2020.
The new technology of 5G may bring increased speed and digitisation. The integration of 5G has already begun to deliver results, as construction operations have been employing artificial intelligence (AI) glasses that support communication between overseers and workers.
AI could see further development in the construction sector. The new technology opens the door to potential innovation, including robotics, real-time monitoring and blockchain.
